The Supreme Court will resume hearing on the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) plea regarding reserved seats on Tuesday (today).
A 13-member full court, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, will start hearing the case at 11:30 am.
During today’s hearing, SIC counsel Faisal Siddiqui will give his arguments in response to ECP’s (Election Commission of Pakistan) lawyer and the Attorney General’s assertions.
The bench has to decide whether reserved seats will be given to the SIC, or to the other parties, or the issue will be sent to parliament to decide.
So far, seven hearings have been held on the SIC plea. The ECP is of the opinion that the SIC is not entitled to reserved seats, while the PML-N, the PPP and the JUI-F have also opposed the SIC petition for reserved seats for women and minorities.
