9th Muharram: IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar’s continuously busy in the field, visited home department and Punjab Police’s Central Control Rooms.

 

Visited the Safe City headquarters and the route of the main procession of 9th Muharram, reviewed the security arrangements.

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar is continuously busy in field visits to monitor & supervise the security arrangements during the first decade of Muharram ul haram. On 09th of Muharram, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited the control rooms of home department and central police office. IG Punjab reviewed the security arrangements for the central processions from the control rooms, Special Secretary Home, Fazal-ur-Rehman in the control room of the Home Department while AIG Legal Saleem Chughtai gave briefings to the IG Punjab in the control room of the Central Police Office. IG Punjab also monitored the 09th muharram main procession of Pandu Street lahore. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that all the central processions of 9th Muharram in different districts are peacefully proceeding on their traditional routes. IG Punjab said that the processions and majalis of all districts are being monitored moment by moment from the central control rooms, continuous monitoring of processions and majalis has been possible due to the safe Cities projects in various cities of the province. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police is on high alert to maintain the atmosphere of law and order, public is being provided with a peaceful environment and fool proof security for the peaceful holding of majalis and processions.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited Safe City Headquarters. IG Punjab conducted a review of the direct monitoring operations of Muharram processions across the province under the centralized system of Safe City Operations Center. MD Safe City, Muhammad Ahsan Younis, briefed on the arrangements for procession monitoring, with Chief Operating Officer of Safe City, Mastansar Feroz, Commissioner Lahore Zaid bin Maqsood, and other officers present. IG Punjab was briefed that all processions and majalis are being monitored categorically under Category A, B, and C criteria, and all sensitive locations are monitored through additional portable cameras. Police communication officers and technical teams are on duty 24 hours from the Safe City Center. Monitoring of processions is also continue from Safe City Headquarters in Nankana, Kasur, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi. Safe City cameras are active 24/7 across the city for complete coverage of majalis and processions. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that all resources are being utilized for the security of central processions and majalis during Youm-e-Ashura, continuous security monitoring is being conducted through Safe City authorities and control rooms in all districts.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar conducted a surprise field visit to review the security arrangements for the central procession of 9th Muharram in lahore. SP civil lined Dr. Abdul Hanan and SP Dolphin Shahmeer khalid briefed the IG Punjab on the security arrangements. While interacting with security personnel, including Dolphin Force members, IG Punjab issued instructions saying that security duties of Majalis and processions should be performed with full diligence. IG Punjab stressed to keep vigilant eye on miscreants and anti social elements. Dr. Usman Anwar stressed on prioritizing measures for the security and convenience of women & elderly citizens, all necessary resources will be deployed to assist, guide, and protect citizens in majalis and processions. IG Punjab said that close coordination should be maintained with procession organizers, peace committees, government institutions. There should be no interruption in the traffic movement from the alternative roads adjacent to the procession routes.
