FOOLPROOF SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS FOR PROCESSIONS AND GATHERINGS DURING MUHARRAM: CCPO LAHORE

Lahore, June 28: Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana presided over the District Peace Committee meeting at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh.

The meeting focused on maintaining peace and security arrangements during Muharram ul Haram. It was decided to maintain strict monitoring of hotspot areas in the city throughout Muharram ul Haram. It was also decided to continue search and sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations around sensitive locations.

Security measures such as the installation of bunkers, walk-through gates, metal detectors and CCTV cameras at imambargahs were also discussed during the meeting. District Peace Committee members presented their suggestions for ensuring a peaceful Muharram. The committee members and license holders assured their full cooperation for the peaceful conduct of Muharram.

CCPO Lahore appreciated the assistance of the Peace Committee members in maintaining public order and religious harmony, commending the spirit of peace among scholars from all schools of thought. He urged procession organizers to play their pivotal role in maintaining peace during Muharram ul Haram, emphasizing that promoting peace and religious tolerance is a collective responsibility.

Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated the commitment to provide foolproof security for processions and gatherings during Muharram ul Haram. He assured that the sound act, timings of gatherings and adherence to procession routes would be strictly enforced. Additionally, the cooperation of imambargah administrators and volunteers in ensuring the checking process of mourners was emphasized. He added that necessary facilities would be provided at procession routes and gathering points in collaboration with the district administration.

CCPO Lahore highlighted the crucial role of scholars in maintaining peace and stressed the need for regular Peace Committee meetings. The efforts of Lahore Police in crime control were highly appreciated by committee members, gathering organizers, and license holders.

DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Operations) Tassawar Iqbal, SP (Security) Abdul Wahab, divisional SPs (Operations), members of the Peace Committee, license holders of gatherings and processions and religious scholars including Agha Shah Hussain Qazilbash, Tauqeer Hussain Baba, Kh. Measam Abbas, Maulana Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, Mufti Imran Sajjad Hanfi, Maulana Aziz ur Rehman Sani and Sahibzada Babar Farooqi attended the meeting.
